The Energy to Transform Lives
As the 686th Lord Mayor of London, at the outset Fiona presented her '686 Plan', which outlined her four mayoral programmes; The Lord Mayor's Appeal 2014; The Lord Mayor's Charity Leadership Programme; Harnessing Talent: The Power of Diversity; and Tomorrow's City. These programmes pushed forward the agenda in the areas of philanthropy, diversity and sustainability and benefitted from the support, expertise and enthusiasm surrounding Fiona during her year. The 686 Plan was an ambitious one, but with everyone's participation captured "The Energy to Transform Lives".
Fiona Woolf was elected Alderman for the Ward of Candlewick in the City of London in October 2007 and was the Aldermanic Sheriff for the year 2010/11. On September 30 2013 she was elected to be the next Lord Mayor and took office on November 8, 2013 for the year 2013 /14 . She became President of the Candlewick Ward Club in December 2007 and actively supports all its activities. She organised the annual Candlewick Debate to enable the electors and those with interests in the Ward and, more widely in the City, to express their views as to the priorities for the City and to provide the input that Fiona needed to carry out her civic roles. She retired as an Alderman in June 2018
In her capacity as Alderman she sat as a Member on the Court of Common Council and on various committees of the Corporation of London. She has served on the Policy and Resources Committee, the Planning and Transportation Committee, the Finance Committee, the Standards Committee and the Community and Children’s Services Committee and has acted in a liaison role for one of the Corporation’s housing estates.
An enthusiastic supporter of the Livery movement, Fiona was Master of the Worshipful Company of Solicitors (her mother company) in 2015/16 and was the Master of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers for 2018/19. She was pleased to be appointed as an honorary liverymen and member of the Court of the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants and is Master for 2019 /20. Reflecting her keen interest in the electricity industry, she has become a Liveryman, and Court Assistant, of the Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers and as a result of her legal background has become a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators. She is also pleased to be an Honorary Liveryman of the Security Professionals, the Paviors, the Fuellers, the Turners, the Lightmongers and the Tax Advisers. She is also a member of the City Livery Club.
